参考答案: Adversity Can Be of Significance
Just as the saying goes, "Storms make trees take deeper roots." Simple as it is, the saying is thought-provoking.
As we know, when faced with storms, trees have to take deeper roots so as to stand erect instead of being blown down or even pulled out; meanwhile, only tempered by adverse natural conditions can trees develop stronger roots to absorb more nutrients from the soil, preparing themselves for future challenges.
Ordeals are to men what storms are to trees. Victor Hugo believed that adversity makes men, and one of the best examples in my mind is unquestionably Beethoven. He suffered from loss of his love, economic calamity, and most deadly to a musician, deafness. We admire Beethoven's willpower to overcome all hardships —who can deny that it was the sufferings that contributed to the thrilling power of his music? There is no doubt that life could not be problem-free, so what matters is that we have the courage to face troubles and become stronger.
All in all, just like the deeper-rooted trees, we should stand up to life's challenges with determination, wisdom and perseverance, and learn to gain greater rooting power to survive and thrive in difficulties.
